Fire Events & Facility Closures

Both of our facilities are subject to a change in operating conditions throughout bush fire season, weather events and for other environmental issues. Old Quarry Road Transfer Station

Residents using the Old Quarry Road Waste Management Facility will no longer deliver to the Tip face / Landfill Area. Instead, they will be required to separate their waste upon its disposal and will be assisted to do so by the Transfer Station Attendants.

The Waste Transfer Station has designated drop-off areas for the following accepted waste & recyclable products:

• • General waste
  • Green waste
  • Scrap metal
  • Items suitable for the Re-Store shop
  • Waste oil - 30L limit per resident
  • Bulk recycling (eg. cardboard)
  • Mattresses 
  • Tyres (fees apply)

Inkpen Road Waste Management Facility

Opening Hours:    9.00 am - 3.00 pm Tuesdays & Thursdays 
                               9.00am – 5.00pm Saturdays & Sundays
                               All Public Holidays (Excluding: Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Years Day).
                                     Please ensure you arrive 15 minutes prior to closing time.

Please Note: When a Harvest Movement and Hot works Ban is declared the Inkpen Waste Management Facility will be CLOSED to ensure public safety.

Old Quarry Road Waste Management Facilities green waste and transfer station remains open should residents choose to utilise this location during a HVMB. 

Waste Facility (Tip) Passes

Waste facility passes are available from the gatehouse entrance of both waste management facilities. Waste facility passes are issued each financial year and expire on 31st July.

Residents who own or rent a residential property that receives a weekly waste service are eligible for free access to either of the Shire’s waste management facilities. Free access is restricted to household quantities and is administered by a residential facility pass.

Rural residents who don't have access to a weekly waste service pay an annual rural waste levy and receive a 26 trip facility pass for access to either of the Shire’s waste management facilities. Access is restricted to household quantities and is administered by a residential facility pass.

The Shire currently does not offer waste facility passes to business / commercial customers and applicable disposal fees apply.

WASTE FACILITY PASS TYPES:

Ten (10) trip facility pass includes:

• Ten (10) entries to dispose of accepted general waste, including 2 x mattresses per year
• Unlimited entries to dispose of green waste
• Unlimited entries to dispose of accepted recyclable items

Twenty-six (26) trip facility pass includes:

• Twenty-six (26) entries to dispose of accepted general waste, including 2 x mattresses per year
• Unlimited entries to dispose of green waste
• Unlimited entries to dispose of accepted recyclable items

Please note: costs will apply for the disposal of some wastes including asbestos, tyres, more than 30L of waste oil, animal carcasses & commercial waste. All wastes that have a charge associated with their disposal must be paid for at the gatehouse as per the Shire's adopted Fees & Charges.

Residents who do not pay the relevant waste services charges will not be able to access the Shire’s waste services and will be charged as commercial customers when visiting either facility.

WASTE FACILITY PASS CONDITIONS:

• Only residential properties which have a lawfully approved liveable dwelling are issued waste facility passes.
• Waste facility pass must be presented to the gate attendant upon entry – no pass, no free access.
• When rubbish is deposited at a waste management facility, the waste facility pass will be ‘punched' to record this disposal. 
• Waste facility pass entitles you to dispose of up 1.8 m x 1.2 m x 0.6 m. to 1.5 cubic metres per visit of general or green waste from your own property.
• Loads of general waste larger than 1.8 m x 1.2 m x 0.6 m. to 1.5 cubic metres will be charged at the applicable disposal fee.
• Loads to be segregated and unloaded as directed by the gate attendant.
• Children and animals must remain in your vehicle at all times.
• Waste facility pass will not be accepted for the disposal of any type of waste from small or commercial business operators – standard gate fees apply.
