Please be advised that all Shire of Northam offices/services will be closed for a period of two hours on Thursday, 6th February 2025, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, due to essential business requirements.

Western Power is working to restore power to a number of homes in parts of Jennacubbine, Jennapullin, Mumberkine, and Wongamine following damage to at least 6 poles caused by a bushfire yesterday evening.

The Shire of Northam advises the Department of Fire and Emergency Services have declared a TOTAL FIRE BAN for the Shire of Northam from 0001hrs to 2359hrs 13th December 2024.

Please be advised that a section of Old York Road will be closed starting Wednesday, 11 December, 2024, for approximately three days. This closure is to facilitate bridge repairs and maintenance. A traffic management plan will be implemented. To ensure safety we kindly ask that you follow all posted instructions. We appreciate your cooperation and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The Shire of Northam are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from enthusiastic local community members who would like to participate in a selection panel for the Northam 'High Achievers Recognition Program'. This program aims to acknowledge and celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to the community within the Shire of Northam. The panel's primary task will be to shortlist nominations for Council. Selected winners will have the opportunity to be recognised as an inductee in the distinguished Walk of Fame.

The Shire of Northam has resolved to adopt the Shire of Northam Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2024 at its Ordinary Council Meeting held on 20 November 2024. The purpose of the proposed Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2024 is to make provisions about the establishment and organisation of bush fire brigades.

Please be advised that on 3rd and 4th December 2024, Water Corporation will be conducting work at the intersection of Gairdner and Selby Street.

The Shire of Northam is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of an E-Waste Infrastructure Grant totalling $34,827.00 to construct an E-Shed at the Old Quarry Waste Management Facility.

DLGSC is partnering with targeted local governments including the Shire of Northam to deliver the State Government's KidSport Regional Pools Program. The program seeks to increase physical activity and water awareness of children aged 5 to18 years by subsidising the cost of access to community pools in target regional areas. Eligible children can access funding equivalent to the cost of a seasonal pass for pool entry at Northam Aquatic facility and Wundowie Swimming pool.
