A significant development application for a new hydrogen generation facility and expansion of the existing solar farm in Muluckine near Northam has been received by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) under Part 11B of the Planning and Development Act 2005.

Western Power is working to restore power to a number of homes in parts of Jennacubbine, Jennapullin, Mumberkine, and Wongamine following damage to at least 6 poles caused by a bushfire yesterday evening.

The Shire of Northam advises the Department of Fire and Emergency Services have declared a TOTAL FIRE BAN for the Shire of Northam from 0001hrs to 2359hrs 13th December 2024.

Please be advised that a section of Old York Road will be closed starting Wednesday, 11 December, 2024, for approximately three days. This closure is to facilitate bridge repairs and maintenance. The Shire of Northam are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from enthusiastic local community members who would like to participate in a selection panel for the Northam 'High Achievers Recognition Program'. This program aims to acknowledge and celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to the community within the Shire of Northam. The Shire of Northam has resolved to adopt the Shire of Northam Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2024 at its Ordinary Council Meeting held on 20 November 2024. The purpose of the proposed Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2024 is to make provisions about the establishment and organisation of bush fire brigades.
