Shire of Northam Airfield
The Airfield is located at 105 Withers Street, Northam, approximately 3.5 kilometres north-east of the Northam town site and approximately 90km east of the Perth metropolitan area.
The Shire of Northam Airfield is classified as an Aeroplane Landing Area (ALA) and is NOT Civil Aviation Safety Authorly (CASA) certified.
Facilities include:
- Fully secure hangar sites with keypad entry gate.
- A sealed 1,248m runway with mains-powered edge lighting for night operations and night flight training, and a landing distance of 975m.
- A full-length taxiway and run-up bays.
- H24 AVGAS Viva Aviation, Dunnings Fuel, Credit Card Bowser. Jet A1 is not available.
- Aircraft maintenance is available through Northam Air Services.
- Aircraft parking areas (fees applicable).
- Newly installed toilet amenities.
Hangar Sites & Users Information
The Airfield currently has 41 sites, with plans for further site development in accordance with the Shire of Northam Airfield Master Plan (See Reference Documents).
Users of the Airfield include:
- Commercial and privately leased hangar sites.
- Two commercial ballooning companies.
- One Flight Club.
- Emergency services – Seasonal Water Bomber base along with significant Royal Flying Doctor Service traffic.
Leasing - Hangar Sites
The Shire currently has 0 sites available for leasing.
Please contact the Shire directly to register your contact information to be added to the waitlist if you are interested in leasing a hangar site.
General information for leasing:
- If the site is vacant, a planning application must be obtained prior to the lease progressing.
- Leases are generally for a period of 10 years and have a common expiry date.
- Public Liability insurance of $20,000,000 is required for any commercial entities.
- On approval of lease, 1x fob will be allocated per person on the lease, any additional fobs incur an additional charge.
- Power and water connections are the responsibility of the lessee.
Airfield Fees
All fees are set annually by Council. Please refer to the Shire of Northam Schedule of Fees & Charges.
Aircraft Parking (Per Plane)
Please note aircraft parking is limited to a maximum length of 3 months. Approval from the Shire is required if parking exceeds the 3-month period
