In 2024, the Shire of Northam was successful in securing funding from Cricket Australia & WA Cricket via the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund, and from the State Government, Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, through their Club Night Lights Program to install 4 new lighting towers at the Bert Hawke Sports Precinct.
The new lighting assets will include new LED flood lights installed on the new light poles to achieve Class V 300 lux level as per AS2560.2:2021 for respective total playing areas.
The Shire is proposing the control of the new floodlights will be achieved by an advanced smart control system which enhances energy efficiency and reduces costs.
